open 20 echibition

The City Gallery's open exhibition is twenty years old this year and we'll be celebrating the superb wealth of talent within the East Midlands region with a bumper exhibition of artworks in a wide selection of different media from photography to painting and ceramics to glass ware. For the first time ever the exhibiton will also have its own Youth Category offering £100 and a range of other exciting prizes for young artist between 12-17 years old.

 

Once again, Leicester City Council will be offering the Attenborough Prize (£2,000) to the best contemporary visual artist exhibiting in the exhibition. Come along and pick your favourite artwork for our 'People's Choice' Prize, with artists ranging from young people to well-established names. All the artworks are for sale, providing a perfect opportunity to start your very own art collection. Use the Own Art scheme, where you can buy arts & crafts with no added interest, with small manageable monthly repayments.

Want to submit your own work?


The Annual Open is an exhibition held at The City Gallery attracting over 10,000 visitors and providing the opportunity for regional artists, of all ages to enter their work, in the hope of seeing their work on display and possibly win the Attenborough Prize.

 

To enter your work into the exhibition you must live or work in Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire or Northamptonshire. If you are entering artwork that qualifies as craft you will also be eligible to enter if you live in Warwickshire, West Midlands.

  • each artist can submit up to three works

  • entries will be accepted in the form of painting, sculpture, drawings, prints, photographs and craftwork. Installations or performances will however not be accepted

  • there is an entry fee of £10 per work submitted or £20 for three works by the same artist.

  • each entry will need to be issued with an application form

 

Youth Category

 

  • entry to the Youth Category is free ( If you live in Leicester and you are aged between 12-17)

  • artist entering the youth Category will only be able to submit one item of work
