One Rhythm Dance Festival: World of Dance
HUMBERSTONE GATE AREA: 11am - 4pm
- 11am, 2.35pm: Black Eagles - A troupe of totally stunning acrobats from Tanzania, set to lively African music, the show progresses through a series of powerful and graceful acrobatic and dance routines. A high impact, joyful show that will have people gasping in amazement.
- 11.15am, 12.05pm, 1.00pm: Limbo - This Caribbean art is a dance in its own right, perfect for raising the temperature of any party. As the bar gets lower, the dancers do too, but they never lose control. Join in the fun when you meet the limbo dancers on their walkabout performance.
- 11.25am, 1.10pm, 2.15pm: Bill Brookman and friends - Fire and dance performance by gypsy dancers.
- 11.45am: Lapis Lazuli - Tribal style belly dance demonstrations.
- 11.45am, 1.30pm: Flamenco Aire - A vibrant group of flamenco artists comprising of a singer, dancers, guitarists and percussionists, who bring together powerful dance with sublime musical accompaniment, in an act that touches and excites the senses.
- 12.15pm, 2pm: Doherty Academy - Perform traditional and modern Irish dancing.
- 12.30pm: Egyptian dance demonstration with Maria de Silvia & The Nile Dance Company - Born in east Africa, Maria is of Goan Portuguese descent, she directs the Midlands Dance Extravaganza, the Nile Dance Company, Mystical Mirage Bazaar and organises regular dance holidays to Cairo.
- 1.30pm: Nupur Arts - Specialise in the old classical dance of Bharat Natyam, they will be performing various Bollywood / bhangra demonstrations and will hold workshops to compliment the performances.
- 3pm – 4pm: Bollywood Rhythm - The organisers of the Leicester Belgrave Mela bring you a spectacular Bollywood finale mapping the history of Bollywood dance. Dancers will be performing scenes from Bollywood films whilst extracts from the films will be played on The Big Screen!
GALLOWTREE GATE AREA: 11am - 3pm
- 11.10am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm: Circo Rum Ba Ba Geisha Girls - Highly skilled theatrical performers whose attention to detail, comic characterisation and enormous costume stock mean they can adapt to most themes and perform at any festival or event.
- 11.50am, 1pm, 2pm: Grand Theatre of Lemmings - Perform their stunning stilt walking act with Pushmi-pullyu (pronounced “push-me-pull-you”), the two headed Lamar, straight from Doctor Dolittle. Come and meet this extra-ordinary creature wondering around Humberstone Gate and Gallowtree Gate.
- 12pm, 1.15pm, 2.30pm: Lion Dancers - A form of traditional dance in Chinese culture, in which performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume.
