A celebration of popular dance, from ballroom to jive, big band to salsa, an opportunity for you to get dressed up to the nines and strut your stuff...

Humberstone Gate Area: 11am – 4pm

 

  • 11.00am, 12:05pm, 1:30pm: Can Can - the UK's number 1 Can Can troupe and one of the most beloved acts on the British burlesque scene; famous for their outrageous spin on the traditional French can can and for their ability to kick any party into gear!

  • 11:05am: Cuban Salsa – Latinos: local dance students perform "Rueda" (circle) participants dance in this circle performing different figures and patterns.
  • 11:10am, 12:45pm, 1:45pm: Bees Knees – Charleston Girls dance the nineteen-twenties through to the noughties; an act with a euphoric party atmosphere.
  • 11:15am: Cuban Salsa Workshop with Jenny Harvey tutor of the Latinos.
  • 11:20am, 12:10pm: Havana Nights – perform various styles of Salsa. Havana Nights have Cuban Salsa classes in various venues in and around Leicester & Leicestershire.
  • 11:25am: Jive Performance - The Jive Aces are a six piece that tours extensively around the UK, Europe and USA with their particular brand of hi-octane entertainment. Playing stomping, high-speed swing, the Jive Aces are always fun and always danceable.
  • 11:45am, 12:55pm: Ceroc - is the largest and fastest growing dance organisation in the UK. The style of dance taught at a CEROC class is a fusion of other popular dance forms such as Latin, ballroom, salsa, jive, swing, hip-hop and tango and can be danced to any style of music.
  • 11:55am: Charleston Performance – See the Jive Aces performing Charleston style demonstration.
  • 12:10pm: Charleston Workshop - workshop to compliment previous performance.
  • 12:35pm: Latin Dance - Yane and Alex who are two fabulous dancers spice up the party with some authentic Latin flavour.
  • 12:50pm: Latin Workshop - workshop to compliment previous performance.
  • 1:25pm: Lindy Hop Performance – Local club The Lindy Hop Club perform original swing dance from the 1920s/30s.
  • 1:35pm: Nupur Arts perform Indian Social dance.
  • 1:35pm: Lindy Hop Workshop - workshop with Shauna Richardson to compliment previous performance.
  • 1:55pm: Samba Dance – The Latin dancers Yane and Alex perform Samba.
  • 2:10pm: Ceroc Performance Workshop - workshop to compliment previous Ceroc performances.

 

Don't miss the end of day finale...

  • 3:00pm - 4:00pm: 60s, 70s, and 80s Fosse Central Band – finale performance and the opportunity for you to strut your stuff on the purpose built dance floor as Humberstone Gate is transformed into a spectacular Dance Hall!

Gallowtree Gate Area: 11am – 4pm

Street Entertainment: Artizani Elvis's, Swizzle Shaker

  • 11:00am, 12:45pm, 2:45pm: Artizani Elvis' – ingenious street theatre with mobile boats and zany characters.

  • 11:45am, 2:15pm, 3:15pm: Swizzle Shaker – skilled routines, hat tricks, bottle swizzling, magic, flamenco and swing dance.
  • 11:55am: The Dukes Box – sound system complete with light show and resident musicians. (Corner of Gallowtree Gate / Humberstone Gate area).
