Gener8 features street arts and contemporary dance displaying various techniques and traditional performance styles, including acrobatics for those who like to see the ultimate in daredevil skills!

HUMBERSTONE GATE: 11am - 4pm


  • 11am, 1.05pm: Virtual Motion performance and workshops by Helen Smith - Theatre and contemporary dance style displays. Plus, a chance for you to take part in the workshops.

  • 11.10am, 12.40pm: Mandy Shepherd from ER Crew (Essensual Rejuvenation) presents energetic dance and fitness routines that will really get the heart rate going.
  • 11.40am: Leicester Vocal Tech - This Leicester based group dedicate themselves to performing contemporary street jazz and will be performing a Michael Jackson themed dance in honour of the legends 50th birthday - prepare to be 'Thrilled'.
  • 11.50am, 2.20pm: Group Senzala Leicester Capoeira - Performance and workshops on the Brazilian art form of dance, martial arts and games. An opportunity for you to join in with the fun and games.
  • 12pm, 1.55pm: MIMBRE - The UK's leading acrobatic theatre company, fusing world-class acrobatics with physical theatre and dance. These three women have amazed thousands of audience members across the world with their strength, grace, amazing dexterity and skills!
  • 12.25pm, 3.05pm: De Ramos - Acrobatic performances fused with dynamic power tumbling and somersaulting - for those who like to see the ultimate in daredevil skills.
  • 1.15pm, 3.05pm: Fusion - performance by Nicholas Daines - Watch as stunts and acrobatics combined with Pilate style manoeuvres are performed that will have you gasping in amazement. All part of a days work for this dare-devil!
  • 1.25pm: Jenna Bata - A performance combining Bollywood and Hip-Hop in a routine entitled "Fusion".
  • 2.55pm: The Faits - Contemporary performance of vibrant, powerful and exciting dance routines using ribbons.
  • 3.45pm: Virtual Motion - Performing sections from their current touring piece entitled "Kismet", meaning fate. Are we the master of our own fate? Does some other person force or entity influence our lives, or is life nothing more than sheer chance? Watch as this is expressed through dance.

 

GALLOWTREE GATE/CLOCK TOWER: 11am - 3pm

 

 

  • 11am, 12.35pm, 2.20pm: Crystal Ball Manipulator - This relatively new form of juggling doesn't involve tossing the ball in the air, but rolling it in a controlled fashion around the body. Also called sphereplay and crystal ball manipulation, this kind of performance is less hectic than ordinary juggling, as well as more compelling and dare we say it, magical!

  • 11.45am, 1.40pm, 3.05pm: Stalkers - Silent, seemingly serious characters, whose slow, sensuous, staccato movement is inspired by yoga and Butoh. Watch out… they're always up to some mischief!
  • 12.15pm, 1.20pm: The Faits - A performance of vibrant, powerful and exciting dance routines using ribbons.
