Big Screen 8th to 24th August 2008
For the first time ever, Leicester will host a Big Screen in the city centre on Humberstone Gate. The screen will televise sporting and cultural events for 2 weeks. The highlight will be the Beijing handover - a once in a life time opportunity to witness London receiving the Olympic torch from Beijing. Join us on Humberstone Gate, on Sunday 24th August 2008 at around 12pm, where the BBC will be showing live coverage on the big screen. To celebrate this occasion there will be sporting celebrities giving interviews on stage. Come and see street entertainers and join in the fun and games, all with a sporting twist!
Sports Fest 23rd and 24th August 2008
Leicester's city centre will once again be transformed into a festival of summer sports.
The annual Sports Fest is set to return on the 23rd and 24th August 2008 on Humberstone Gate - come and visit us for a fun packed sporting weekend! The two day event will coincide with the handing over of the Beijing Olympics to London on Sunday 24th August. Sports Fest will be celebrating the handing over of the Olympic torch - a fitting tribute to Leicester being the European City of sport 2008.
