The waiting IS over!
If you're a regular visitor to the city centre, dug-up pavements, orange barriers and diversion signs will have become a familiar sight. But the good news is that the waiting – and the inconvenience – is finally over.
Leicester City Council's three-year scheme to transform the streets in the heart of the city is now complete. In September, the £350m Highcross Leicester development opened its doors. And in the late Autumn, the curtain will go up at Leicester's exciting new performing arts centre, Curve. But that's not all. There's lots more to look forward to. Find out more

Improving the streets
Over the past two years, the city council has been rebuilding Leicester's main shopping streets, creating a unified new look for the city centre.
Highcross Leicester
The highly anticipated launch of the £350 million leisure and retail destination, Highcross Leicester opened its doors to the public on 4th September after two years of construction, and welcomed a record number of visitors - over 125,000 on the first day!
Cultural Quarter
The ambitious regeneration of the St George's area of the city is being driven by the development of a number of major cultural projects.
