Saffron Neighbourhood Management Board
The Saffron Neighbourhood Board is made up of local residents, Councillors from the Freemen and Eyres Monsell electoral wards and theme representatives in the areas of crime and community safety, health, housing and the environment, employment, education and the voluntary sector.
The Board held their first meeting in January 2007. The role of the Board is to close the deprivation gap between the Saffron priority neighbourhood and the rest of Leicester and the Board are united in the shared desire to work together in the interests of Saffron.
The Board are responsible for overseeing the Saffron Neighbourhood Management Project. Their responsibilities include overseeing the budget, providing guidance to the Neighbourhood Manager and encouraging the involvement of the community.
The Board have recently elected their Chair and Vice-Chair who are both local residents. It is early in the development of the Board and many issues will need to be addressed as time progresses. Depending upon the type of issues and priorities that arise, the Board may decide to invite representatives of other groups to join the Board, or to attend in an advisory capacity.
