Installations within Leicester's Cultural Quarter makes connections between past and present; people, places, buildings and spaces to encourage people to use their senses; touch, sight and sound, whilst drawing from the history and original architecture of the area, building aspirations for the future.

Vestige - Jason Bruges Studio

Jason Bruges Studio created Vestige, a movement activated light-based installation at the three main entrances to Curve. Vestige is inspired by the movement and choreography of performers and the dynamic and changeable design of the Curve performance space. When a visitor enters, their silhouette is captured and is replayed behind as a digital

shadow.

One Leicester - Cultural Quarter Floorscape and Threads

Floorscapes & Thread - Leicester Print Workshop & Bhajan Hunjan

Leicester Print Workshop and artist Bhajan Hunjan created these artworks (with the assistance of Leicester's community) in sandblasted granite, embedded into the pavements of the area and integrated into the thread in Orton Square. Bhajan Hunjan’s floorscapes are situated at eight strategic entrances, on pathways leading to the heart of the Cultural Quarter, reflecting images of historical and contemporary significance.

Orton Square

Situated in the heart of the Cultural Quarter, Orton Square is named after one of Leicester’s most celebrated playwrights, Joe Orton. Orton Square is a stimulating meeting place, public realm, dramatic space and gateway to Curve, all rolled into one.
